About Us

Our Pastor

Dr. Jonathan Blackburn became the Pastor of the Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in September of 2018.  With over twenty years of ministry and educational experience Pastor Blackburn, Jonathan brings a deep desire for spiritual and social transformation to be at work in and through the Church. He believes that the Church’s greatest witness is a great commitment to the great commission of making disciples, and the commandments of Loving God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength; loving our neighbor as we love ourselves.

Pastor Blackburn loves people, and loves to see believers and seekers grow in their walk with the Lord Jesus. 

His educational journey includes completing a Ph.D. in Intercultural Studies, and an MA in Christian Leadership from Asbury Theological Seminary.  Also he holds a bachelor of science in community and human services from Empire State College (SUNY), and an associates in management from Erie Community College.

Pastor Blackburn has a deep heart for the community, and in education.  He serves on various boards and also is a professor at the Historic Edward Waters University.

He is married to LaDonna Blackburn, and they are the proud parents of Jonathan Jr., James, Lydia, and Naomi.  Pastor enjoys family time, traveling, reading, writing, and playing sports.
